Jun – Information on free or cheap French courses in Ile-de-France

1.      If you are a resident of CIUP (Cité internationale universitaire de Paris), you can apply for French workshops (Ateliers de Français) provided by acc&ss CIUP.

Levels of courses: elementary to advanced (A1, A2, B1, B2).

How to apply: You need to register for acc&ss, and they will send you information (French workshops, guided tours, social events for researchers, etc.) from time to time. The easiest way to register for acc&ss is to visit their office, which is close to the CIUP restaurant  (Maison Internationale, acc&ss , 17 boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris). Registration is available in March, June, September, and December, by online registration (the link is sent to you by email). NB: spaces are limited so be sure to sign up for the French workshop as soon as registrations are open. Otherwise, you have to wait until the next trimester.

The length of courses: two-hour classes, twice a week, for 3 months.

Payment: For Master and PhD students (80€), post-doctoral researchers (150€), and spouses (150€).

Extra information: you can also go to the library in the Maison Internationale of CIUP to borrow and read books, CDs, and DVDs to learning French, which is also organized by acc&ss.

2.      You can also learn French from associations that provide courses for FLE (Français Langue Étrangère/French language for foreigners). Usually these courses are free or you just need to pay the annual membership fee (20 to 40 euros). The levels of courses are usually from the beginner levels to B1. Usually you need to register in September or October every year, but you can register at other times if there are still available spaces.
